Orientation – Board 101
Every Board needs an annual orientation session. Paul and Andrew cover the basics in this workshop and can easily customize the presentation for your Board. General topics include:
– the importance of mission, vision, and values;
– what the heck is “fiduciary duty”?;
– expectations of the Board and individual Directors;
– 10 ways to enhance your contribution to the Board;
– the relationship between the CEO and the Board;

Board OF DIRECTORS WORKSHOP: Policies, processes, and purpose
Every Board should step back once in a while to be reminded about its overall purpose and why its policies and processes are so important. In this session Paul and Andrew will review these 3 “Ps” and offer some time to reflect on the nuts and bolts of your Board’s structure in light of your critical mission. Some pre-work will be required for this session and it is customized to each Board.

You can have the best set of Board policies, the most elegant strategic plan, an exceptional CEO, and incredibly competent committees. But if you don’t have a handle on the behaviour and dynamics of Board members, the whole thing is for naught. Alternatively, the other pieces might be a mess but if you start by building up the culture of your Board then you are on strong footing for putting together your policies, processes, and purpose. Paul and Andrew will challenge your Board members to reflect on their own role, their own responsibilities, and their opportunity to take your Board to the next level.
